Day 37: A Neutrophil Limerick

Her ANC's coming up late.
For days Mady's numbers weren't great.
What we'd adore
Is two hundred (or more),
But today we'll take
one thirty eight!

ONE THIRTY EIGHT!!!!!!!!! (At first I thought it said thirty eight and I was like oh bummer, the numbers'll pop up soon and then I read it again and I was like OH, 138!!!!!) This is so cool!!!! That probably means you'll come home soon!!!! We're all doing the neurtophil dance! The neutrophils are showing up for the job. And by the way, I sent the neutrophil pages to your(Mady's) email.
YAY!!! 138!!!!
~~Stephanie~~
PS:Love the poem!

Not only is your prose great but your poetry is inspired! Maybe inspired by all 138 of those tiny little neutri guys. May the Spirit cause them to grow and prosper. Much love

Excellent news!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TREY!!!! And now for some birthday HAIKU:

Our best architect
Belmont poet laureate
Starts his sixth decade.

Town Meeting drags on
Trey gave me a drawing pad
Now partners in crime.

AND A LIIMERICK:

When stay-at-home parents met to play,
We asked, "How is it going today?"
Trey said, "I've installed granite curbs, fixed the roof and made pesto."
What HAVE I been doing all day?

That's all for right now! Come on other poet-friends - bring on the bday poetry!

xxxooo

In Honor of MADDY!
My new favorite Haiku, re-worked and re-titled:

Haiku #138

By John Jordan

(as adapted from the
original, circa 1988)

Some Neutrophils* dig me
some dont,
but most do,, HAIKU!!!

The End.

*words were changed to
make this mildly applicable.

Birthday Haiku:

Hey Cannonball-Man!
Those lifeguards at Underwood
Are glad to be closed.

Happy Birthday to a guy who makes a splash wherever he goes!

Another Birthday note:
His name may be Trey
And you should see his array
O bicycles, houses and chains in t trees,
Of rock sculpture stacks that are
aimed to please
The eye of the beholder
Who becomes much bolder
To follow the trail all the way.
But, behold! this is the day
That we celebrate the 50th of Trey
The one we hold dear
To our hearts thru' each year
And wish many more--Hooray! GP&E

Happy B'day:
I can't believe fifty years gone by,
My, how time does fly!
That little red-faced bundle of joy
Grew to be a strapping 6ft.6in.boy.
No longer a boy do I see,
But a man of great sensitivity! XO M

Adrienne constantly had low counts. It is amazing how much your life becomes centered around "good counts!" Just wanted you to know we are checking on all of you and thinking of Mady everyday.

By the way, Adrienne (aka Addie) lived in Brookline this summer. Boston is her favorite city and UNH is only one hour from Boston which is one of the many reasons the school appealed to her.

If you or Chris ever want to speak to me or my husband please feel free to email me for our telephone number. Doug, from the LLS board, is also a wealth of information and support.

Hi there, I really love the limerick. Here is my contribution:

Luke stay away
Mady wants to play
Don't shake her tree
She wants to be free
To go home.

I have a book, The Way Life Works, I would like to give to Mady--it's pretty funny, the illustrations are really cool and might inspire Mady to pursue a life of science---secret investigator- private eye science gal. Or medical gal. Or biotech raving young chemist or health policy wonkette.

Love, Bev (Freeman)

Dear Trey,

AHA - so that's what turning 50 does! What magic! You added your year numbers to Mady's neutrophils, and the neutrophil numbers soared!

Terrific!
