Trey turns 50 this Wednesday, a big number overshadowed by a much bigger event. In spite of the dire circumstances, please feel free to write happy birthday wishes to Trey here in this blog. As many of you know, he appreciates poetry in all it's different forms, so please fellow wordsmiths, write away. Love, ca

Good evening to you all. I'm sure you're sleepy and headed to bed around now. Though we are not sleeping in a room next to you or able to cook you a good meal at this moment (these are things that grown-ups like to do for their young ones),I am and we are thinking of you always and every day, Mady. Love, Bev (Freeman)

Since we went to high school together I knew how old you (we) were but I wasn’t going to say! Somebody did it for me! Of course it will be a looooong time till I’m 50! (4 months is a long time isn’t it?) Anyway, hooray for the NDL and have a terrific birthday! Here’s my stab at poetry:
There once was an old man named Trey
Who was about to have a birthday
’Twas a falcon he sought
But it was all for naught
So he wasted the whole stinking day

Life starts at fifty
Trey Klein. Until next year it
Starts at fifty-one
Wordsmith Kathy Genet wrote this for Trey for his 40th. When we were first talking about Trey's 50th (many months ago) and I wanted to use this as part of an invitation, Trey thought it was so good that others wouldn't want to share their own poetry. I know, though, that Treys friends will enjoy and still have confidence in their own words. love ca
When Trey was a tiny baby boy
(Only 5 feet tall)
The time came for his birthday
Early in the Fall
He debated with his mother
"Clearly you know it's true,
The only perfect gift would be
A volleyball or two."
So Peggy found a ball
And a great big volley net
For that's what her lone son
Little Trey would get.
He opened up the wrapper
And drooled on his new prize
And mommy saw the deamon look
In little Trey's blue eyes.
His eyebrows grew and curled.
His hands got big and wide
As he picked up his brand new gift
And palmed the ball with pride.
His legs quickly grew longer
His feet....we won't go there.
And on every single inch of him
Grew salt and pepper hair.
At 40 he's not much different,
A little longer in the tooth,
He's a volleyball assassin,
A spiking John Wilkes Boothe
The Genets wish him the best
As he hits the big 40
And this year on his birthday,
We hope he doesn't grow.
At 50 his best years behind him
Our duty today to remind him
He's no longer young
What once firm now limp-hung
The sight of bare flesh might just blind him
OH Yeah
Happy Birthday Trey!
John
On your Fiftieth Birthday
take time to sit back and
reflect that it seems like
it was just yesterday
that it was Tuesday.
it can be hard to
wish you happy birthday when
writing a haiku.
Happy birthday Trey!!!

Candles on a cake
Flames flicker with life and joy
Wax drops on icing
His selfless wishes
So pure and vital this year
All your friends share them
His eyes close tightly
He inhales deep with prayer
Trey blows out fifty
A year so trying
Must fill next year's sun with joy
Believe in the dawn

Trey’s b-day delayed? No way!
By the bay someday we’ll say “Oi- vey’!
What a time, not gay, but say, Mady’s Forte
Is getting stronger, Yea! And Trey’s Jays are scared
By what the falcons say,
We all pray, but did you pay
the full park price? no way!
Trey will par-tay with his famous Latte
And hit the hay, at 50, or so you say

Happy birthday Trey! My kids remember you as the guy who always gave the best "underdogs" on the Butler playground swings. May you swing through the next half century with just as much ease!
Mady, Bekah says a special prayer for you every night. You are in our hearts. Love, Barbara, Joe, Bekah, Allison and Naomi Arsenault
The Dude went out on an early fall night
He prayed for his daughters, his bride and his might
They would have many more moons in the MGH pen
Before his family would be home again
So he briskly moved with his big old grin
This battle his daughter would surely win
And he and his wife withiut any strife
Divided the dutys for true love is a long life
