My sister Jeanne drew this when Madeline was first hospitalized. It's a cut out-and she hung it on Mady's door knob. When Madeline gets a particular pink colored chemo I think of these three doing their job. Madeline used to get very upset when the colored pink liquid was going into her body.

Hello neighbors, it's hard to know what to say but you've encouraged us to leave comments so I'll try.
I'm catching up on your blog and sending prayers and good thoughts from a few blocks away, hoping maybe you're all snoozing right now & having restful dreams.
Mady, my son Rowan says he wants another "pirate" birthday party this year -- you girls made a big impression at his PQ party two years ago! We'll be at Ferry Beach that weekend though so we won't be drafting any Girl Scouts to play dress-up. Maybe next year.
My sister Jane is running in the Boston marathon too, to benefit Children's Hospital, and my kids & I will be cheering on the sidelines in Natick. We'll keep an eye out for Mady's runners as well so we can give them an extra-loud holler.
I don't know what to say about your terrible loss of Chris's mother earlier this month. I'm so sorry. She was clearly well-loved and central in the life of her family. I'm glad you got to say goodbye, but the unfairness of it all just sucks.
There's been too much sadness since last fall. Thank goodness for rock-and-roll is all I can say, because sometimes turning up the music seems like the only thing to do when crying gets old. "Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice/ But to carry on," right?
take good care,
Johanna Swift Hart (Butler mom of Seneca & Rowan)
Chris, we were thinking of you over the Easter and Celebration-of-the-renewal-of-life weekend. Mom is watching out for Mimi. Love you always, J
