Madeline's favorite person here at MGH is Lorrie, the music therapist who visits a couple of times per week with her keyboard and computer. She always makes Madeline smile.
Goofy, dramatic and engaging, Lorrie is one of those natural therapists for humanity, in need or otherwise. She doesn't expect answers and she is enthusiastic with very little. She makes Madeline comfortable and I know Madeline is in safe hands when Lorrie visits.
The other day Madeline recieved her iPod during a Lorrie visit and I returned to watch the two of them... Lorrie teaching Madeline her know-how of iTunes and iPods and Madeline gratefully soaking it up. Madeline says "Lorrie is a kindred spirit."
Through the various procedures and highs and lows, we can always count on Lorrie.

Music therapy is the best, except maybe for dog therapy. WGBH was playing Schubert's first symphony this a.m. and I thought, his music is himself, coming out in tunes. I wonder. it's like, if you could hear his thoughts and his heart all working together communicating. Hmm. Anyway, we'll be there tomorrow after soccer, Ginny and I. Thoughts and prayers, even when you don't hear from us. Love.
I'm glad you have a kindred spirit there, and music therapy is great(or at least it sounds great)! I never thought of ipod know-how would fall under the category of musical therapy, but I guess I'm wrong!
Have fun with musical therapy!

What a wonderful and impressive spirit of love and support pervades this ordeal you are all going through!! I have been thinking about you lots, Mady, and sending healing thoughts your way. And listening/connecting to music can be such a wonderful healing experience... as is tuning into all things that have that kind of positive energy for you and bring you joy. Being as nice to yourself as possible during all of this is so very important.
I'm looking forward to the posting that announces your homecoming!
Much love to all of you, Leslie
Yeah for music therapy!!!
Yeah for kindred spirits!!
and Yeah for you Mady!
so what are you downloading?
Hi to all. Mady and Julia you won't know me very well but I'm the person who taught your dad about sex -- OWL sex that is. This is why he is such a knowledgeable person. Not always wise like an owl but knowledgeable. I think it's the wrong word to use to say I enjoy reading this blog. But quite a bit of it makes me laugh and I know that the charming and smart person at the center of this is Mady. I am reading a rather interesting biology book. It is for 8th graders but I find it very informative. Perhaps I will stop by and give it to you because there is a lot to laugh about in this book too. The characters who are molecules or cells are very crazy looking. It is almost as good as a video game because the colors and shapes are very bright and dynamic. In fact, when I look at it I get a little jumpy myself!
More importantly and to the point, I'd like to see you all. I am sending you big hugs. Bev F.
